Before and After School Care
State-Licensed Elementary School Age Care for your Child
The YWCA Before and After School Program provides child care for elementary school-age children (5-12) during the school year. The program runs from 6:30 am until school starts and resumes at the close of school until 6 pm.
All YWCA child care sites are licensed by the Department of Health and Family Services as group day care centers. They are rated with the Young Star system. Children receive a nutritious snack each afternoon and have an option of activities to do each day.
The Before and After School programs currently operate at several schools in Janesville & Milton.

Who staffs the Program?
All YWCA child care staff meet state requirements for providers in a group child care center. All staff receive in-service training, and throughout the year have opportunities to attend child care conferences. State licensing requires that the staff to child ratio be 1 to 17.
Who is eligible for the program?
The YWCA Before and After School Program is open to all elementary school-age children, ages 5-12, enrolled at any of the schools we serve.
What about days when school is closed for holiday breaks, parent/teacher conferences or severe weather?
We offer an all day program when school is not in session in Janesville. This does not apply to holidays or weekends. The Non School Day (NSD) program requires a separate schedule and fee. The program is held at the YWCA and is open to all children enrolled in the YWCA Before and After School Programs. Since space is limited, enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Children are provided with a nutritious morning and afternoon snack, and you provide a lunch each day.
The NSD program charges a daily rate. Hours are 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. NSD rates are $45/day. When possible, the YWCA may offer a “snow day” program on days when school may be canceled due to severe weather.
Schedule and Fees
Each week, you submit a written schedule listing the days and hours your child will attend the program for the following week. We are also able to work around your child’s extracurricular activities.
Your child will be considered enrolled in the program once the enrollment fee is paid, the enrollment forms are filled out, available space has been confirmed and a parent meeting has been attended. The forms need to be completed and turned in prior to the child starting the program.
Schedules and payments must be turned in at the site, on Thursdays by 6:00 PM the week prior, in order for your child to attend and to avoid the $20 late fee.
