BRITTANY KEYES
Dr. Brittany Keyes, DPT, is a physical therapist who is passionate about climate action and public health. She works as the Clean Air Coordinator with Healthy Climate Wisconsin (HCW) and lives with her husband and two young children in Beloit. She is a former local-elected official who brings her experience, expertise, and energy to advocate for communities across Wisconsin.
Brittany earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Iowa. Brittany started her career at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, working in the hospital and Sports Med. Brittany continued to work as a physical therapist after moving back to Wisconsin, expanding her practice to include Women’s Health. In 2016 she joined the BMHS Football Coaching staff as assistant JV coach and then volunteered with the program through 2019. She continues to volunteer as a coach with the YMCA and Rising Tide.
Brittany served on the Beloit City Council from 2020 to 2022. During that time, she helped integrate environmental and social sustainability into the city’s strategic plan, led the city to proclaim a goal of carbon neutrality by 2040, and pushed the city to become a Green Tier Community. She also pushed the city to use its ARPA funding to help address the growing housing crisis.
While on the City Council, Brittany became aware of the growing air pollution issue across southern Wisconsin. Appreciating the broad public health impacts, she led a collaborative community science effort to start monitoring the air. This project has grown to include the establishment of the Stateline Clean Air Coalition, of which Brittany serves as the convener.
Brittany also serves as the Climate Justice Chair for the NAACP WI State Conference, on the board of the Beloit League of Women Voters, and the APTA Wisconsin Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee. For fun she enjoys spending time with her family, connecting with nature, and working with her husband to replace their lawn with native plant gardens.
